This map of the township of Rawdon was used by William Holtby Jr., Secretary-Treasurer of the Township of Rawdon, to record the owners of lots around 1845. Based on a map drawn by surveyor Joseph Bouchette, this map has travelled extensively. First kept at the Holtby family residence in Rawdon, this map was reportedly brought to Waverly, Minnesota, around 1920. A few of William Holtby\u2019s descendants, including John Holtby, had emigrated to Waverly starting in 1880. After John\u2019s death, the map was passed to his youngest son, David William Holtby. He lived in Los Angeles. His youngest son, Kenneth Fraser Holtby, then took the map and brought it to Seattle, where he held important management positions at Boeing. After his death in 1987, the map went to his eldest child, Michael Earle Holtby, who lived in Denver, Colorado, and then on Whidbey Island, Washington. In 2016, Michael Earle Holtby passed the map to Daniel Parkinson, also a descendant of William Holtby Jr. living in Toronto, who subsequently presented it to the mayor of Rawdon, Raymond Rougeau, at a ceremony in 2022.<\/p>

Daniel Parkinson has done impressive research and published a book, in two tomes of over 1,000 pages, entitled Up to Rawdon, documenting the first families to settle in Rawdon.
