La boulangerie Antonio Pichette a ouvert ses portes le 1st<\/sup> mars 1948.\u00a0 Elle \u00e9tait auparavant la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de Louis Bertrand, boulanger venant de Montr\u00e9al, qui lui avait achet\u00e9 de M. Giroux qui avait achet\u00e9 de M. Adrien Charbonneau. \u00b9<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0Au tout d\u00e9but, la livraison du pain se faisait en voiture tir\u00e9e par un cheval.\u00a0 Un livreur de l’\u00e9poque, Ivanhoe Dupuis raconte:\u00a0 \u00ab\u00a0Lorsque j’oubliais d’attacher mon cheval, je devais revenir \u00e0 pied \u00e0 la boulangerie, car la jument revenait seule de la 8e avenue \u00e0 l’\u00e9curie.\u00ab\u00a0\u00a0 La jument Nelly \u00e9tait utilis\u00e9e pour la voiture de livraison tandis que le cheval B\u00e9b\u00e9 \u00e9tait utilis\u00e9 pour la carriole de promenade.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dans les ann\u00e9es 50, les deux chevaux ont \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9s par trois camions dont un \u00e9tait conduit par Marcel, le fils d’Antonio Pichette et un autre par Jacques Quintal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Antonio avait \u00e9galement deux filles, Suzanne et Nicole, qui servaient les clients.\u00a0 Son \u00e9pouse Denise\u00a0 faisait les tartes durant la journ\u00e9e.\u00a0 Dans les ann\u00e9es 60, le vendredi soir, le commerce \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s achaland\u00e9 avec les touristes de diff\u00e9rentes nationalit\u00e9s qui arrivaient pour la fin de semaine.\u00a0 De plus, le dimanche apr\u00e8s toutes les messes, il y avait une longue fil\u00e9e \u00e0 l’ext\u00e9rieur pour venir chercher le pain chaud ainsi que les p\u00e2tisseries.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00a0Antonio faisait le pain dans un four en brique la nuit.\u00a0 Dans les ann\u00e9es ’60, ce four a \u00e9t\u00e9 remplac\u00e9 par un four rotatif qui faisait damner les boulangers, car il \u00e9tait mal install\u00e9 et la fourn\u00e9e \u00e9tait souvent perdue.\u00a0 L’\u00e9t\u00e9, la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9tait entretenue par une dizaine d’\u00e9tudiants du village.\u00a0 Tout \u00e9tait toujours impeccable.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u00c0 cette \u00e9poque, la boulangerie proposait une grande vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de produits: du pain, des f\u00e8ves au lard et des desserts dont plusieurs sortes de tartes et de beignets. Les plus populaires \u00e9taient la tarte au sucre, les beignes au miel, les brioches aux raisins, les carr\u00e9s aux dattes et les petits pains \u00e0 salade. \n\n\nLes pains se vendaient entre 12\u00a2 et 15\u00a2. \u00c0 ce prix, on pouvait se procurer un pain jack, un pain sandwich, un chinois (miche) ou un talon (pain fesse). Aujourd'hui, tous ces pains se vendent entre 5 et 6 dollars.\nLa boulangerie a \u00e9t\u00e9 vendue en 1971 et Antonio a pris une retraite bien m\u00e9rit\u00e9e.
