Rawdon’s multi-ethnic character is not only reflected in its culture. Its religious history is also strongly influenced by it. Thus, over the years, the different ethnic groups in Rawdon have raised no fewer than six churches of different faiths..

A mosaic of religions

Some of them have kept their authenticity and are still active: Catholic (1820), Anglican (1821) and Russian Orthodox (1958). Others have had to unite in order to survive. This is notably the case of the Presbyterian (1832) and Methodist (1838) churches, which got together to form the United Church in 1925. Others simply died out for lack of worshippers: Baptist (1820) and Episcopal (1832).
